Why didn't my voicemail include a transcription?¶
Overview¶
If voicemail transcription is turned on for your extension, your voicemail emails include the message as text. Sometimes a message arrives without a transcription, and that doesn't always mean something is wrong.
Very short, silent, noisy or unclear messages may not have enough speech to turn into text.
What you can try¶
- Listen to the recording.
- Check whether the caller left a clear spoken message. Hang-ups, background noise and messages of a word or two often won't transcribe.
When to contact PMX¶
If the steps above didn't fix it, PMX takes it from here. We handle the technical side, like phone system and call routing settings, phone setup and resets, number and texting setup, 911 details, and office network or firewall changes. Please don't try to change those yourself.
If a caller left a clear message and there's still no transcription, contact PMX. If you can, forward us the voicemail email.
Don't have transcription and want it? Ask PMX whether it can be turned on for your extension.
